About this piece
A spouted matcha bowl, or katakuchi, made by hand in Dehua. A black glaze is brushed on by hand over a linen-weave texture, and the brushwork leaves subtle variations across the surface, so no two bowls are quite alike. Against the dark glaze, whisked matcha shows up a vivid green, and the spout lets you pour it into cups to share. Each bowl comes in a paper box.
- Material: Ceramic
- Design: Linen-texture surface under a hand-brushed Pitch Black glaze, with a pouring spout and a footed base. The texture is irregular by design, and size, shape and glaze color vary slightly from piece to piece and batch to batch. Small pinholes and dark specks are normal in fired ceramics.
- Function: For whisking and serving matcha. The spout pours whisked matcha into cups, and the bowl also works as a large fair cup (gong dao bei) for sharing brewed tea.
- Size: 13 cm (5.1 in) long, 12 cm (4.7 in) wide and 8 cm (3.1 in) tall. Holds 420 ml (14.2 oz). Weighs about 395 g.
- Care: Wash after use and let it air-dry. Not for the dishwasher or an open flame. Store it away from metal and sharp objects to avoid scratches. Tea stains come off with a tea-stain cleaner, and oily marks with dish soap.

Returns
You can return an item within 15 days of delivery. To start a return, email us at info@theteacloud.com with your order number and the item you would like to return. We will reply and tell you where to send it. Please email us before you send anything back.
You pay for return shipping. Please return items in their original condition. If an item is not returned in its original condition, you are responsible for any loss in value.
We will refund your payment once the item has arrived back with us and we have checked it.
Damaged or defective items
If an item arrives damaged or defective, email us with photos. We will send a replacement at our cost, or give you a full refund.
Exchanges and cancellations
We do not exchange items once an order has been delivered. To cancel an order, email us with your order number.
