Jingdezhen has a long history of ceramics. Our artists use traditional materials and firing techniques, and many pieces are hand-painted with flowers, birds or pandas, so each one differs a little.

Yixing zisha clay

Our zisha teapots come from Yixing, the home of zisha clay. Most are made by hand from purple, red or yellow (duan) clay. Small pots suit gongfu brewing; keep one pot for one type of tea.

Ikebana and the kenzan

Ikebana is the Japanese art of arranging a few flowers and branches with care. A kenzan is included with many of our ikebana vases: the pin frog that holds each stem in place.

How to arrange flowers with a kenzan

  1. Place the flower frog in the bottom of the vase.
  2. Press the flowers between the spikes in the frog.
  3. Add enough water so that all the cut stems are in it.
